That’s a good question Jake!
The research I did during my PhD was aimed at developing new ways of using lasers to get faster internet, but it takes a bit of time for that research to be used by UPC and Eircom to actually get faster internet in people’s homes. The work I did will be expanded on by lots of other people and eventually it will all be packaged into something people can buy. It might take a couple of years for this to happen though. But then my I can say I’ve made the internet faster :).

The fastest aeroplane will be a militart fighter jst such as the F16. Until a few years ago you could fly as a passenger on a supersonic (twice as fast as sound) aircraft – Concorde. You could get from London to new York in 3 hours instead of 7 normally. But you had to be very rich to fly on it.
