• Question: are there many female engineers!?

      No would be my answer. There were 4 girls in my class of 30 in college. In work, in my section, there are 20 engineers of which 2 of us are female.

      Hi Grace,

      The short answer would be no. That statistic is that about 10% of engineers are female. However, this is changing! When I was in UCD there was more and more girls in every year.

      I did chemical engineering, which has the highest ratio of girls. My class was about 40% female.

      Hi Grace,

      There were 5 girls in my class of 30 when I was studying engineering, and now in my lab there are 4 guys and 2 girls. So there is a big imbalance, but as engineering becomes more popular there are more and more girls getting involved!
