      No not at all – being female has never held me back – in fact quite the opposite – when there are only a few females you can stand out.

      I would agree with Sinead. If anything being a female engineer is an advantage!

      The only negative thing I can think of is that you are vastly outnumbered most of the time and some woman might find this intimidating. However after 5 years of college in a class of men you don’t even notice it!

      In my current job there are just as many, if not more female leaders than male.

      Hi, I would agree with Sinead and Aislinn, I have never found being a woman has held me back, and you get used to being in the minority quickly. Also I would agree that as you progress the gender balance gets better. For example when I was in college studying there were 5 girls out of about 30, but now in my group I’m working with for my PhD there are 2 girls out of 6!
