      Hi

In space the engine of the rocket makes gases which are pushed out of the back of the rocket at speed. This causes the rocket to be pushed forward. This is a law in nature that you may have heard of – for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction (called Newtons law). the rocket follows this law. Think of a balloon you have blown up but haven’t tied a knot in the bottom of it- when you let go of the balloon the air (gas) comes out the back and the balloon will fly off in other direction.
