Hi Timothy and Annie! An engineer is somebody who looks at something and tries to figure out how it works, how it can be made better or how it can be fixed. Engineers are very curious people, so whenever they see something new they want to understand it. Engineers are really good problem solvers, so they spend a lot of their time trying to figure out new ways of improving the world around us.

That’s a hard question! Someone who solved problems, for sure. Often the solutions involve some mix of scuence and maths, plus experience. In engineering there’s a particular way of thinking too, which is hard to explain. Engineers believe that good solutions are possible for any problem, and you can find them by attacking the problem logically and breaking it down.

Hi, that’s a hard question to answer because engineers do so many different kinds of jobs. The most broad answer would be is that an engineer is someone who understands maths and science concepts, and uses that knowledge to solve problems and improve peoples’ lives.

An engineer uses a deep understanding of science to come up with solutions that do not exist to problems we don’t know we have yet.
