That’s a tough question because it is so broad!

Being an engineer is incredibly interesting. You are always coming across new problems to solve and new, improved ways to solve them.

It can also be difficult. There is no such thing as saying “I’m out of ideas ” when you’re an engineer. You have to come up with the best possible solution you can.

It is also very rewarding. The things you do in your everyday job have a huge effect on people’s lives. If you can improve something, you literally make the world a better place to be. That’s pretty cool.

Finally, being an engineer can be really good fun. The perception of the lonely engineer with no social interaction is a myth. You build a really solid network and in my experience an engineer will always help out another engineer with a problem. Plus we know how to party.

It’s different every day. I don’t build things or work in a lab. I work in an office and Figure out problems on paper or through working with people in my team. I love my job – I get to travel and meet lots of interesting people and I’m well paid.
I get to the airport as much or as little as i want . I also trained as a firefighter as one of the things I have to check is that if a plane crashes that within. 2 minutes the fire crew are there and able to put it out.

It’s great. It’s like solving puzzles for a living, except the puzzles have a purpose and a result. There is huge variety within in the world of engineering, so you can choose what kind of puzzles you want to do.
