Yes if we want it and invest enough time and effort and money – we are only limited by our current knowledge – remember when we believed that the world was flat ????

People did live on the moon for a few days. People are living in earth orbit for up to a year. It probably can be done. The question is – what would we learn from it, and will it be worth the cost? I think space travel is going to be all about robotic exploration for a while – like the amazing Rosetta mission – and new safe cheaper Earth orbit spacecraft like the SpaceX ships – and maybe sending humas to Mars.

Sorry, I forgot the teleportation part of your question. I’m no expert, but I can’t see it ever happening. Physicists have achieved a kind of teleportation of tiny objects – a few atoms – but it’s not Star Trek. But here’s something that can be done today: make a 3D scan of an object in one place, and send the data over the internet to a 3D printer that makes a copy of the object. That technology is getting better all the time.

      Hi Funky Joe,

I think is we were going to invest in inhabiting another planet, we wouldn’t start with the moon. We’d have to find somewhere with more life.

As for teleportation, I don’t think you or I will ever see it happening but I think in the future it will. No cars, planes or boats – you just step into your portal and you’re there!
