      Hey Fiona
Most of the time the work is very enjoyable so you don’t really feel the tiredness. It does get tiring when things aren’t working out though, especially if you are stuck on a problem for ages and figure the answer out. When that happens I try to work even harder so end up being wrecked by the end of the day! I think most engineering jobs are flexible so you can do different types of work during the day. So if I’m physically tired, I might work on my PC doing some design work but if I want a break from that, I can work in the lab where I can move around.

      Hi Fiona,

Sometimes when a project is on-going and you feel you’re not making progress qucik enough, I can become frustrated and tired with the project and usually want to do something else. I then try and go back to basics to remember what I wanted to achieve and then try and fix the problem.

Sometimes! Usually if that happens, there’s time to make an emergency cup of tea which clears the head and perks me up. Luckily the kettle is near my office 🙂 Or, like Padraic, I find it refreshing to change to a different kind of work for a while.

      Hi Fiona,

As Nathan said – emergency cups of tea are a life saver!

Generally I dont even feel the day going. It is only if I’m stuck on a problem that won’t seem to respond to my solution that I can get a bit tired. But a nice walk outside and a cup of tea with a colleague usually jump starts the brain!
